EACH CAMPAIGN PRAYER REQUESTS  5/18/2011  (DAY 24)

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ. (2 Corinthians 9:12-13 NIV)  

Prayer Meetings: Please join us as we gather for prayer tomorrow, Thursday, May 19, 2011: 9:00 -11:00 a.m. or 7:00-9:00 p.m., Landmark Community Church, 24520 N. Chrysler Drive, Hazel Park. Praise Reports:

  • The Flash Mob Freeze went great at all 4 locations last weekend (Outside of Comerica Park, at the Hoedown at Hart Plaza, at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, and at Heritage Community Church’s fair in Sterling Heights)
  • Last weekend’s Resource Fair events and Mobile Medical, Dental, and Feeding programs were well attended and a blessing to all – several people who were served also received salvation!
  • Detroit pastors are seeing an amazing receptivity to the Lord recently, one pastor said that “God is picking fruit and dropping it right into our hands”
  • Our community networks want to remain active after the campaign, and they are seeking the Lord for His direction
  • 2WordStories and the Gospel were presented to the sell-out crowd attending the Home Plate event prior to the Tigers’ game at Comerica Park last Saturday
  • Thousands have had opportunities to share their 2WordStories, and interest in EACH continues to spread outside the Metro area
  • 537 organizations (churches/ministries) now participate in EACH

Prayer Requests:

  • For everyone to remain focused on the mission and strong in the Spirit during the last 2 weeks of the campaign
  • For people to experience God’s love as they are served by the Resource Fairs and Mobile Medical, Dental, and Feeding programs this weekend in Detroit and Downriver, and for sufficient volunteers to fill all slots needed
  • For the hospitalized, the imprisoned, and the institutionalized to be receptive to outreach ministry throughout Metro Detroit
  • For the Lord to continue to use the 2WordStory website to bring salvation and emotional healing to thousands of people
  • For more prayer and worship leader volunteers to fill the EACH House of Prayer schedule for 24/7 operation

What’s my Purpose? | 2WordStory

There’s much more meaning in life once you know your purpose.

Consider a hammer. It’s designed to hit nails. That’s what it was created to do. Now imagine that the hammer never gets used. It just sits in the toolbox. The hammer doesn’t care.

But now imagine that same hammer with a soul, a self-consciousness. Days and days go by with him remaining in the toolbox. He feels funny inside, but he’s not sure exactly why. Something is missing, but he doesn’t know what it is.

Then one day someone pulls him out of the toolbox and uses him to break some branches for the fireplace. The hammer is exhilarated. Being held, being wielded, hitting the branches — the hammer loves it. At the end of the day, though, he is still unfulfilled. Hitting the branches was fun, but it wasn’t enough. Something is still missing.

In the days that follow, he’s used often. He reshapes a hubcap, blasts through some sheet rock, knocks a table leg back into place. Still, he’s left unfulfilled. So he longs for more action. He wants to be used as much as possible to knock things around, to break things, to blast things, to dent things. He figures that he just hasn’t had enough of these events to satisfy him. More of the same, he believes, is the solution to his lack of fulfillment.

Then one day someone uses him on a nail. Suddenly, the lights come on in his hammer soul. He now understands what he was truly designed for. He was meant to hit nails. All the other things he hit pale in comparison. Now he knows what his hammer soul was searching for all along.

We are created in God’s image for relationship with him. Being in that relationship is the only thing that will ultimately satisfy our souls. Until we come to know God, we’ve had many wonderful experiences, but we haven’t hit a nail. We’ve been used for some noble purposes, but not the one we were ultimately designed for, not the one through which we will find the most fulfillment. Augustine summarized it this way: “You [God] have made us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee.”

A relationship with God is the only thing that will quench our soul’s longing. Jesus Christ said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” Until we come to know God, we are hungry and thirsty in life. We try to “eat” and “drink” all kinds of things to satisfy our hunger and thirst, but yet they remain.

We are like the hammer. We don’t realize what will end the emptiness, the lack of fulfillment, in our lives. Even in the midst of a Nazi prison camp, Corri Ten Boom found God to be wholly satisfying: “The foundation of our happiness was that we knew ourselves hidden with Christ in God. We could have faith in God’s love…our Rock who is stronger than the deepest darkness.”

Usually when we keep God out, we try to find fulfillment in something other than God, but we can never get enough of that thing. We keep “eating” or “drinking” more and more, erroneously thinking that ‘more’ is the answer to the problem, yet we are never ultimately satisfied.

Our greatest desire is to know God, to have a relationship with God. Why? Because that’s how we’ve been designed. Have you hit a nail yet?

Here is a video on what I experienced on this glorious day in the Lord! This event made me speechless and very emotional. Just to be in the midst of over 20,000 Christians praising the Lord and giving glory to God… it was simply amazing. Truly, NO WORDS could ever explain the feelings and emotions that occurred that day. It was just…blessed. I think I got just a little “taste” of heaven… and it was absolutely, wonderfully overwhelming. I will embrace that feeling anytime.

Learning the Secret of Contentment

I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. (Phil. 4:11-13 NIV)
 
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your strength. Please look at my life right now and reveal to me any area where I am discontented or unsatisfied. Remind me that I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.

Pastors, if you haven’t shown the Prayer Walk video we encourage you to do so in your services this weekend!  
                       
 
Parking:
 
Handicap parking is suggested in the Tigers Parking Deck on Montcalm along the north side of Comerica Park (this is the closest parking available).
 
All buses and vans need to RSVP to EACHtoday.com.  Buses and vans are to park on the I-75 service drive between Woodward Avenue and Brush.  
 
 
Volunteers:
 
We are still in need of volunteers to help out with the Prayer Walk.

Good Deeds Sign-Up:
 
EACH has partnered with Volunteers of America who will be onsite at the Prayer Walk to assist in the  sign-up process for pledging  hours of service to the communities of Metropolitan Detroit.   We will also have tables available in the tent to learn more about each of the Good Deeds components; Mobile Feeding Program, Mobile Medical/Dental Program, Resource Fairs, and Nehemiah Projects.
 
 Please stop by the tent to pledge your time to help during the Good Deeds Campaign and beyond!
 
      
How amazing it will be to come as one body, thousands joining together walking and praying for God to continue to prepare us and our communities as we get ready to go out and share His Good News and good deeds over the 40 days of the movement!

Good Deeds – Mobile Medical and Dental Program

We are still in need of medical and dental professionals who are willing to volunteer to provide care at our mobile units during the 40-day campaign.  We are also in need of general volunteers who would be willing to help with set up, care for patients during the day and with tear down.  We would like to extend an open invitation for you to join us for one of the orientations.  You will learn more about what will be happening at each site and how you can get involved!   If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at connectEACHtocare@gmail.com.

Good Afternoon All,

Please see attached the flyer for the EACH Prayer Walk that will start at Comerica Park and end at the Spirit of Detroit in Downtown Detroit.  If you don’t want to worry about parking, my church is having 50 buses to shuttle folks to this event.  All you have to do is call Evangel Ministries at 313.836.7732 for more information.
